Trustmarque Solutions Is Officially CarbonNeutral®

What this means. Trustmarque Solutions has worked with The CarbonNeutral Company (formerly Future Forests) leaders in the field of carbon management and climate change solutions to become a CarbonNeutral® company.

This means that The CarbonNeutral Company has calculated how much carbon dioxide (CO2) Trustmarque Solutions will create over a year from its premises, business travel, deliveries and waste. The 'carbon footprint' for Trustmarque for a year was calculated to be 217 tonnes of CO2 which is enough to fill over 200 hot air balloons 10 metres in diameter.

Once the emissions had been calculated advice was given on how these could be reduced at source and then those unavoidable emissions that remained were 'neutralised' or offset by supporting a sustainable forestry project that will absorb an equivalent amount as it grows to maturity. By taking these steps Trustmarque reduces it CO2 emissions to net zero and achieves the CarbonNeutral standard.

Trustmarque chose to support the Donkleywood project which is a large native woodland recreation project in the Northumberland National Park. This project will plant a mixture of broadleaved species including birch and aspen. It will offset some 20,000t CO2 over 100 years.

Donkleywood was once home to a native woodland called Duncan's Wood which was made up of ancient oaks. This was cleared at the end of the 18th century for sheep farming. Remnant pockets of original woodland remain onsite and the project will link these pockets together to create the largest native woodland scheme in the Northumberland National Park. This will make an important contribution towards the National Parks plan to increase the area of native woodland cover in the park to 4%.

Jonathan Shopley, CEO of The CarbonNeutral Company said,

"It is fantastic that Trustmarque is considering the climate change impacts of its business and has taken steps to tackle its emissions. In doing so they are helping to green the supply chain and make it easier for their customers to do the same whilst setting an excellent environment al example for the rest of the industry."

One of very few organisations in the software reseller community to have achieved this accreditation, Trustmarque Solutions has proved that it is not only a leader in the field of software licensing, but also in tackling environmental issues and is actively working to reduce its CO2 emissions.

Ross Miller, CEO of Trustmarque Solutions, comments,

"We understand that our customers are increasingly concerned about the environment and the environmental credentials of their suppliers. With a large proportion of our customers residing in the Public Sector, of which environmental policies are of a major concern, our customers can be confident that we are working in the best interests of the environment."
