Job summary

As the Technical Analyst, assist all aspects of the design, delivery and support of all domestic infrastructure. Management of third parties to deliver outsourced solutions and support and manage the offsite domestic network, firewall, cyber security and Intranet support teams.

Ensure all aspects of solutions are designed to give maximum availability of systems to operate in a 24/7 scenario where downtime is kept to a strict minimum. Be part of a 1 in 2 rota to cover support for site on a 24/7/365 basis and be the final point of technical problem resolution for internal domestic systems.

Work very closely with the customer to be their IT department and establish and maintain trust by demonstrating integrity, cost efficiency and reliability.

Assist with the solutions for the 5 Year plan to deliver up to date systems for the duration of the contract and ensure all systems stay within up-to-date support with third parties and the solutions meet the needs of the customer based on both risk and cost considerations.

Accountabilities and main responsibilities

Essential Skills

Server and client hardware inc HP ProLiant Servers, Windows Server Operating Systems 2008-2016 inc DNS, DHCP, AD, Azure, etc.

Management and troubleshooting issues with Comms links including internet, email, web browsing, FTP, VPN, end hardware and lines.

HP SAN hardware and all aspects of management of keeping it healthy and operational.

Virtualisation – VMWare 6.5 inc ESXi server farm, VMWare workstation.

Enterprise Hardware/Software -Threat management solutions inc anti-virus, Cyber Security, Encryption, Backups inc Tape/Data domains, Disaster Recovery, SQL Database management, O365, Outlook in the cloud, Workstation hardware and builds inc laptops, tablets, phones.

Expert trouble-shooter who accepts responsibility for technical issues and can see P1 to P4 issues through to satisfactory resolution.

Assist with organisation of administrative duties such as contract renewals, software licensing, change management, auditing, OOH Rota.

Desirable skills

Power station specific software Trading System such as Quorum Sentinel, EDL, EDT, MODIS, PI.

Work management system such as a WebSphere based system such as Maximo.

Financial software management such as SUN, Infor, Vision, Bankline etc.

Windows Scripting.

AD policy inc administrative templates.

Personal skills

Management – of self and overall Project Management of Infrastructure Changes.

Collaboration-The ability to work effectively as part of a 2-person team and across the wider business and gain insights and stay abreast of the requirements of a live power station environment.

Communication-Articulate ideas problems and solutions to senior management team and customer while fostering strong two-way decision making across the technical team.

Security- Be alert to all aspects of the requirements of a site that follows closely the Critical National Infrastructure Security policies and ensure any projects delivered follow this guidance as closely as possible. Additionally, manage GDPR reporting for entire site and work closely with the customer to ensure all projects adhere to strict policy.

Stay abreast of new technology and the threat landscape and keep skills current.

Live within a 1-hour drive to site to enable speedy hands-on troubleshooting in the event of a major P1 failure where remote access is not possible to resolve the fault.
