Security in a mobile age
It’s no secret that we are living in a mobile age. Employees in every industry want to be able to work effectively from anywhere – whether that’s in the office, from home, or 3,000 miles away.
However, whilst this mobility undoubtedly allows for a more productive, more collaborative, and more flexible workforce, the security concerns that accompany it should not be underestimated. Organisations who wish to truly embrace mobility must also truly embrace security
The key to achieving this secure, mobile workforce is having access to the appropriate tools and technology that make working at anytime from anywhere seamless and straightforward.
That’s why Microsoft’s Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) is popular with so many organisations, since it offers what Microsoft describe as a ‘holistic approach to the security challenges in this mobile-first, cloud-first era.’
EMS combines Microsoft’s most effective security technologies to help organisations not only protect their employees, partners and customers wherever they are, but also to identify security breaches before they can cause any damage.
EMS becomes EM+S
With more and more high-profile security breaches coming into the spotlight every day, security – and mobile security in particular – is becoming increasingly important to organisations.
In order to more accurately communicate its value, Microsoft have renamed the Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) to Enterprise Mobility + Security (EM+S, if you will).
This rebrand highlights Microsoft’s dedication to security, and assures customers that the security of their organisation is being fully looked after with EM+S.
What does this mean for customers?
In short, nothing for the time being.
Enterprise Mobility Suite is simply becoming Enterprise Mobility + Security E3 – meaning there is no change for existing EMS customers. They will still have access to all the features they love and depend on.
At the end of 2016 (Q4 2016), however, Microsoft will be introducing Enterprise Mobility + Security E5 – an expanded version of EM+S E3 that gives customers the best of the best when it comes to security.
With EM+S E5, customers will have access to the latest advanced security feature set that includes advanced protection for users and privileged identities, intelligent classification and encryption for files shared inside and outside an organisation, and Microsoft Cloud App Security – a service that increases visibility, control and protection for all SaaS applications users are accessing.
The expanded offering will allow organisations who are dedicated to security to make the most of the latest technology available to them, and is testament to Microsoft’s commitment to the concerns of its customers.Enterprise Mobility + Security: A New Age of Mobility Click To Tweet
