Celebrating Trustmarque’s Apprentices

This year marks 15 years since the annual National Apprenticeship Week was launched, celebrating the positive impact apprenticeships bring to employers, individuals, and the economy. This year, the week-long celebration of apprenticeships runs from 7th-13th February.

Launched in 2017, our Sales Apprentice Programme is an opportunity to build a successful sales career within Trustmarque. As one of the UK’s leading and prestigious technology partners, we are at the forefront of digital innovation and our programme gives emerging talent an opportunity to make their mark on the world of IT. Trustmarque sales apprentices undergo an intensive 14-month sales training programme with milestones of attainment built-in in order to gain the Level 4 Sales Executive qualification, a BMS recognised qualification.

To mark the National Apprentice Week, we met up with some of our current apprentice movers and shakers to find out about how their careers in tech have begun and what’s on the horizon.

Introducing Connor Gorman

“I have been with Trustmarque since October 2020, coming from a lead generation background with no experience in IT. I identified the role at Trustmarque as a rare opportunity to join a company that invests in their people and offers a realistic route of progression.

I am at the final stages of the apprenticeship, and looking back, the learning programme has been excellent, introducing me to sales and teaching the required skills to be a successful account manager.

This year I joined the Healthcare team in a pod made up of three of Trustmarque’s most experienced account managers. I have felt a warm welcome into the team and I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings”.

Introducing Jasmine Allan

“When the apprenticeship was announced I had already worked at Trustmarque for a year in the sales support team and had already built a clear career path with my manager. I decided the apprenticeship would be the best way for me to gain the experience needed to achieve my career goals in account management while gaining a qualification too.

I have built some excellent internal and external relationships through the course which has given me the foundations for a successful career. I am now an Account Manager within the Local Government team which was my goal from the outset and am on track to receive a distinction in my exams. I am proud of the achievements of me and my colleagues throughout the course and look forward to where my career takes me.”

Introducing Elliott Morgan

“I’d heard great things about Trustmarque from a friend I met at university. He’d gone through a similar scheme at Trustmarque and conveyed it had real value. The apprenticeship opportunity came at a time after I’d just finished my Master’s degree and really wanted a change in career outside of higher education. The job description was well defined and demonstrated to me that there was a real structure in place to enable me to be successful in this field. Throughout the programme I was given an opportunity to pursue an area I found particularly interesting, cyber security. As I progressed I was provided with additional training specific to this field to develop into a security specialist.

As of 2022, I joined the Healthcare team with a specific focus in supporting our NHS customers and account managers with cyber security discussions. I feel I was given a great deal of autonomy and control over the direction I wanted to take my career and have been supported by management through every stage. I would wholeheartedly recommend this apprenticeship to those people who want to challenge themselves and take ownership of their own success.”

Introducing Jed Hope

“I was attracted to Trustmarque because of the clear career direction that the job description presented. To me it showed an opportunity to learn my craft before stepping up into one of the major teams. Sixteen months later and I made the right call, I initially worked with multiple teams across private and public sector where I have learned how different businesses utilise different technologies to move their business forward.

Since the beginning of 2022, I stepped up from the apprentice team in the Healthcare team where I work closely with a Senior Account Manager to provide solutions to some of our key clients, whilst also focusing on growing relationships with newer accounts. As mentioned in my opening sentence, I applied for the role at Trustmarque because of the clear career progression it outlined, and I am currently experiencing that. I would happily recommend this programme to others.”
