We are delighted to be shortlisted for the CRN Public Sector VAR Award of the Year 2019. We are up against some strong competition from Stone Group, Softcat, SCC and Centerprise International, which shows the high caliber of this year’s entrants.
The CRN Public Sector VAR Award of the Year 2019 recognises excellence in the delivery of solutions, services and support to customers. It takes into consideration an organisation’s ability to deliver real benefits to their customers’ organisations, and provides them with improved efficiency, ROI and reduces costs.
Here, we take a look at some of the key contributors to our most recent award nomination, including some additional customer success stories.
Our highly skilled people
Trustmarque have two dedicated Public Sector teams who work with every single Central Government agency, many local government organisations and two-thirds of all UK NHS healthcare providers. The teams are made up of highly capable individuals who understand the unique need of their customers, supporting them with local and national IT projects. The teams are in turn supported by our IT solutions experts who hold a wide range of accredited skills in software licensing, professional and managed services and hardware procurement. Together, they understand how the latest technology can meet specific challenges and provide valuable solutions for our customers.
“We’re delighted to be shortlisted for the CRN Public Sector VAR of the Year award.
It is great recognition of the hard work our teams do every day to provide tangible value and better outcomes for our customers with solutions that make a real difference to their organisations.”

The partner of choice for Azure
We are working with a large central government department that is implementing a huge digital transformation project, which consists of in-sourcing their outsourced IT contract. This contract accounts for 84% of the department’s annual multi-million annual IT budget.
A significant element of the project consists of building secure virtual datacentres both in AWS and Microsoft Azure, which are being used as the foundations of their migration of on-premise IT systems to the cloud.
We were introduced to the customer by Microsoft as our cloud consultants were the only Azure infrastructure specialists who had the hands-on experience of designing and deploying secure virtual infrastructure in Azure.
Our team validated and refined the designs, developed the deployment techniques and trained the customer’s staff on how to adopt and utilise Microsoft’s best practice methodologies. This ensured that everything is consistent and will not require subsequent re-engineering due to poor planning or design.
Supporting a large council with workplace transformation
A large council required a partner to assist with a complete transformation of their digital workplace. It had a mixture of legacy technologies and partially deployed ad-hoc cloud services which it used inconsistently throughout the organisation.
We formed a multi-disciplined team who engaged with the council’s stakeholders to determine how technology transformation had previously failed and to define terms for success based on the organisation’s needs. It was crucial to put users at the heart of the transformational focus.
Working alongside the council’s IT teams and a managed service supplier, our technology specialists understood the existing technical challenges. Together, they developed a technical transition that coordinated a significant number of technology upgrades and migrations in a relatively short space of time to minimise the impact on the end users.
To help with the overall business change, we implemented a specific stream of work for user adoption. This included business change methodology based on PROSCI and years of practical experience delivering Microsoft business productivity solutions. The transformation initiative was given its own brand and a campaign communicated the intended outcomes and benefits to users, while being sympathetic to the culture of the organisation.
Innovations in hospital billing systems
In August 2018, we were commissioned by one of the largest hospital trusts in the UK to deliver their new billing system by March 2019. The project involved migrating billions of rows of existing data including hundreds of bills and treatment codes, adhering to complex NHS rules while building in new rules.
With this new system, the trust can now look at all transactions on a daily basis – as opposed to waiting six weeks as with the former system. They can also build forecasts and adjust forecast changes to last year’s volumes and activities using next year’s pricing models. The system uses hundreds of national rules to derive billing and blends these with the many local contracted variations agreed between the Trust and its commissioners.
With this real time data, the billing team can accurately forecast, budget and bill much more effectively. Combining billions of records from various systems in one place, the informatics team alone has experienced savings of 80% on BAU work. Audit and control are also much simpler, as every patient transaction is traceable, negating the need for manual work and dramatically increasing productivity.
