As announced in February 2018, Microsoft in collaboration with Crown Commercial Service (CCS) have released the Digital Transformation Arrangements (DTA) which comes into effect from 1 May 2018 for all their eligible UK Public Sector customers. This will run for three years and provide greater access and discounts to assist customers in their use of Microsoft cloud technologies. We have further information following on from our original Digital Transformation Arrangements blog.
New Cloud Objectives
During the Cloud Transformation Arrangement (CTA) framework (2015-2018), a lot changed in the UK Public Sector sphere from WannaCry to Brexit and GDPR preparation to increased mobile working. This has led to the Crown Commercial Service and Microsoft agreeing to a new set of shared principles for the coming framework, these are:
Cloud First – continue to support the Government’s ‘Cloud First’ policy (and new ‘Cloud Native’ vision). This will help support customers realise the benefits of cloud, whilst recognising some may need ‘hybrid’ capabilities in the short to medium term.
Cybersecurity & Compliance – reduce the clear and present cyber threats across UK Public Sector through utilising technologies such as Windows 10, Azure and Public cloud. As well as helping customers prepare for GDPR by securing data and processes.
Customer & Partner Satisfaction – flexibility to support changing customer needs, as well as Microsoft’s own “evergreen” developments.
Consumption – supporting customers in deployment, in order for them to make the most of their assets and get full value from the technology and resource investment.
Focussed Microsoft Suites and Packages
The DTA promotes a number of key suites and packages from Microsoft, which give enhanced discounts. Microsoft has also exclusively created the Security and Compliance Package (SCP) for the UK Public Sector. The SCP package and the other Microsoft 365 have security at the heart of them by combining Office 365, EM+S and Windows 10 to ensure a fully secure user experience and management controls on any device across an organisation.

Further discounts are available on server subscription products (via either ESA or SCE).
