The SA is a senior member of Business Productivity team, taking a lead role in delivery engagements and may direct a team of technical specialists or consultants in the process. The primary function of the SA is to convert customer requirements into an architecture and design that will become the blueprint for the solution being created. As a key technical consulting role, the SA must possess strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with their teams as well as the wider business and their clients. The ability to develop client relationships and consult at a senior level is vital to assist in driving Services sales.
Strong project management skills are essential, and the SA will take a lead role in delivering successful projects, either by a team or on their own. They must have the technical skills and knowledge to understand their clients’ requirements and to develop effective solutions, alongside being able to make the best use of the entire company’s knowledgebase and resources. The SA should demonstrate autonomy and contribute to practice standards development and will assist in the selection and leadership of teams and take responsibility for the technical results of the delivery. A SA should expect to engage with several project teams simultaneously to enable them to apply their knowledge and expertise to clients with similar requirements.
Accountabilities and main responsibilities
The main responsibilities are detailed below, although the post holder would also be expected to perform any other duties which might reasonably be required by the business.
- Liaise with clients and business representatives to understand the needs of business
- Liaise with other professionals to design ‘fit for purpose’ solutions to businesses and client requirements
- Ensure compliance to solution architectural design during the implementation of projects
- Provide architectural guidance to the project team
- Render consulting and technical support services to the project team during implementation
- Explain technical issues and IT solution strategies to stakeholders and other IT professionals
- Ensure that solutions designed are in sync with business needs and resources available
- Review vendor and partner proposals to ensure outcomes can be delivered at the least possible cost
- Identify and mitigate existing or future business risks associated with solutions proposed
- Provide advice and consultancy services to clients but also lead group of technical specialists or consultants during delivery projects
- Responsible for designing, scheduling, analysing and constructing solutions which can meet the demands and specifications of the client
- Build and maintain contacts and relations with clients so that they keep themselves associated with the company in the future
- Creation of commercial documentation to support the organisations client engagements
- Definition of appropriate sales offerings inline with the current and future technical attributes within the practice.
Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or MBA
- Strong knowledge of business, architectural and consulting techniques
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Office 365 features within the Microsoft 365 platform
- SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business
- Microsoft Teams, Collaboration and Telephony

- Strategic Planning and Guidance
- Good knowledge and understanding of the wider Microsoft 365 product suit and the integration with the core Business Productivity aspects
- Breadth and depth of knowledge and business acumen obtained from previous experience of project and programme delivery
- Experience of a variety of industries, public or private sector
- Demonstrable experience of working in complex change environments with multiple stakeholders
- Experience of influencing staff at all levels to ensure that all members of the team own deliverables and meet objectives
- Experience of working across departments to achieve goals and results
- Skilled in negotiation and influencing techniques including the ability to challenge and ‘reality test’ constructively
- Experience of facilitating group discussions
- Experience in business case development
- Experience in technical business change methodologies and techniques
