Unknown compliance position, Assurance required from the SAM team that Xentrall’s licence position was fully compliant, Desktop Upgrade project already underway, Licence estate needed to support future project plans.
Xentrall Shared Services (A public sector partnership between Stockton-On-Tees Borough Council and Darlington Borough Council) were planning an ambitious programme centred on a full desktop upgrade and desktop migration. Chris Oates, Xentrall Strategic Technical Architect comments:
Trustmarque began building an Effective Licence Position (ELP) using Xentrall’s existing discovery tool. This provided a baseline for any future recommendations and highlighted areas that might require attention from a compliancy perspective. Once Xentrall had a clear view of the existing estate, assessing the future options could begin.
Chris Oates explains further, “The Commercial Benchmarking service generated a highly detailed set of licensing scenarios based upon Xentrall’s strategic direction. This was achieved by open conversation and consultative questioning. We were encouraged to speak about our ‘must have’s’ as well as ‘would-like-to-have’s’ in order to create a broad set of potential software licensing options.”
Chris concludes, “Trustmarque’s Commercial Benchmarking service provided a number of benefits. We now have the confidence that our software licensing estate is fully compliant and immune to potential fines. Secondly, we know that our key projects are supported by our software licence estate and all unnecessary costs are avoided. We can now confidently sweat the assets we already have in support of the future ICT strategy.”
Through optimised software licensing procurement, Xentrall maximised their available budget enabling them to advance other value-added projects with the confidence that their estate is 100% compliant.
Chris concludes “Trustmarque’s Commercial Benchmarking service takes it to a complete other level. The difference between working with a consultant, as opposed to an account manager is significant. We had a crystal clear view of all the possible options available to us and the level of detail for each was beyond impressive. ”
Chris contacted Trustmarque’s professional services team to discuss his challenges. It was decided that Trustmarque’s Commercial Benchmarking service would provide a complete overview of the existing software assets. A position of confidence and a long-term licensing model would enable their desktop strategy, in a cost-effective manner.
“I’d heard recommendations of the service from other organisations whom had made considerable savings using Trustmarque’s Commercial Benchmarking service, whilst simultaneously mapping out their future software licensing profiles. We needed the specialisms that Trustmarque offered to help us navigate through the granular complexities of software licensing and get us to where we needed to be”.
